Schrödinger's uterus, or what it's like to be a patient in the US in 2026.
CW: cancer, medical trauma. Remember when my digestive system went full Pepsi & Mentos just after I had my hip replaced in January? And at the time I was blaming it on the meds, the food, even my sister bringing the Norovirus home from her grocery stock job. Absolutely TMI, but I've started throwing up whenever I empty my bowels. Yesterday was the third time this happened, but instead of feeling better after getting rid of everything, I was severely nauseous and gassy until I

Two weeks post-op today!
I took my walker into the kitchen last night to take my bedtime meds, and got halfway back to my bedroom before realizing my walker was still parked in the kitchen 😅😅 Guess I'm feeling better! That one muscle is still prone to tightening up, but frequent, gentle stretching and Robaxin loosen it up again pretty quickly. And, I'm off the Oxy! Down to just my usual pre-surgery pain combo, hooray!! Thankfully, at-home PT exercises are going well, because we're in the middle of

It's oh so quiet...
Woke up with this playing in my head... Complete TMI: The Activated Charcoal from Monday cleared out of my system last night before bed. I am now at the point where I am the least bloated I have been at any point since my most recent weight loss. It's... wild. I haven't been anywhere near this size since my spine went bad in 2020. I need to re-take my measurements. Today is PT, then a shower and hair treatment. It's a beautiful, sunny day, I'm in a great mood, and I'm honestl

Learn from my cautionary TMI tale...
My digestive system has always been pretty fragile, comes with the neurodivergency and all. The short leg and pelvic tilt that the hip replacement fixed didn't help that any, nor does my spinal cord injury or the abdominal fascia trigger points from my huge tits that choke off my intestines... This is what I'm pretty sure happened yesterday: I'm eating bigger portions than I usually do right now, to get my body the calories it needs to heal. But, I'm following the hospital's

Protip: chili & opioids don't mix
My "Wegovy Bowels" aren't exactly helping here, either, but my mom was so hungry for chili last night, and saved out a bowl for me before any tomatoes or dairy went in... I haven't had gas blockages in my intestines this bad in a WHILE. This has honestly been the worst pain of post-op so far, and this has definitely been a very painful post-op. In other news, how the heck am I supposed to wear a sleep bonnet to bed if it's soaked through with sweat within an hour of bedtime??

Crunchy Perimenopause, part 3: Hygiene Habits for Hairy Hippies (with crunchy recipes, and product recommendations!)
If there's a word for 2025, it'd be "hygiene." All of a sudden, thanks to people talking about it openly on the internet, women especially are learning what no one bothered to teach us before. Which means we're beating the hormonal stank in ways our mothers and grandmothers didn't. But, one thing that all the hygiene influencers I've seen have in common is hair removal - they all shave their body hair. I stopped removing my body hair altogether after my last spine surgery. Th

Crunchy Perimenopause, Part 1: when your skin is all of a sudden worse than it was as a teen…
I took my last birth control pill today for the next six weeks. Wish me luck 😬😬 I’m not even off the damn pill yet, and yesterday, I get a HUGE, nearly marble-sized lump deep under my skin on the right side of my chin. It’s been awhile, cystic acne. This is after getting diagnosed with roseacea for the first time in my life a few weeks back. I have the kind where the cartilage in your nose hardens over time. Good grief. Now, you may or may not remember back in the days befo

More TMI lady stuff
I had it confirmed today that I have to stay off of my birth control for six weeks - two weeks pre-op, and four weeks post-op. I’m not just ready, I’m not fucking around. Wish me luck 🤞🏼🤞🏼

Surgical Optimization Appointment, Calendar Updates, & TMI about lady stuff.
Yesterday morning was my Pre-Op appointment with Surgical Optimization, and I don't remember one of these being so difficult to personally process. If you've never done this before, you go in to meet with a bunch of RN and NP's to go over general health and fitness, get fitted for your mobility aid, get your pre-op instructions for carb drinks and itchy body wipes, and get told when to stop taking what medications before you go under. I told you this would veer pretty quickly
