An afternoon update.
I've spent my day monitoring my urine color, and water and electrolyte intake, because my body is doing its damnedest to flush all the anesthesia out. Exciting stuff, I know! I also have so far consumed a monster sized fresh peach for breakfast, and a refrigerator oatmeal for lunch, the latter after getting pretty woozy and wobbly and realizing that I was concentrating so hard on hydration that I hadn't kept up the caloric intake. I'm very glad I jarred those up to have on ha

A Pre-Op Update, 12 days to surgery!
CW: discussion of weight loss through caloric restriction, food cravings, potential surgical side effects, medical trauma and mental health. This might be the most chill I've been before any surgery, major or minor. I absolutely prepped more for my carpal tunnel surgery than I did for this hysterectomy. I mean, having a total hip replacement exactly eight months before certainly helps. This one is an outpatient surgery as long as there are no complications. I'm going to pack

And this again turns into a surgery blog!
I was referred to surgery to have my uterus and fallopian tubes removed today! Glory hallelujah! First steps? At the recommendation of a friend who has done it recently, I got myself a postpartum belly band that even comes with a hip stabilizer... in size SMALL. I'm between the small and the medium, and considering I'm bloated AF right now, I figured sizing down for the support garment I want to wear after having the source of the bloating removed was probably a good idea. Cross-Blog Action!!
You know how I said my body is like "give me all the calories, and I want it 100% in sugar carbs!" which is to be expected, because it takes a lot of energy to heal big bone and muscle, and also I have to be off the sugar craving meds right now. This drink is helping to take the edge off the cravings. Mostly because it's packed with what my body is actually craving, so it doesn't want to spiral into comfort eating. Incoming: a new Menu on my recipe blog on how to meal plan fo

Post Op, Day 2.
Here's a big ol protip for you: use a good travel mug for your hot drinks while you're recovering. I just dumped hot coffee all over myself, my bed, and my med bottles. I just fucking washed all this bedding. Had to wash it again already because I got "the sweats" last night anyway - my body finally pushed out the last of the anesthesia and extra white blood cells, just like sweating out a fever. But after that, I took my pain meds (which I have put on a schedule so they all

Crunchy Perimenopause, Part 1: when your skin is all of a sudden worse than it was as a teen…
I took my last birth control pill today for the next six weeks. Wish me luck 😬😬 I’m not even off the damn pill yet, and yesterday, I get a HUGE, nearly marble-sized lump deep under my skin on the right side of my chin. It’s been awhile, cystic acne. This is after getting diagnosed with roseacea for the first time in my life a few weeks back. I have the kind where the cartilage in your nose hardens over time. Good grief. Now, you may or may not remember back in the days befo

Checklist Check-In
I'm at 2.5 weeks to New Hip Day! Officially the halfway point of pre-op. I have today and tomorrow left on The Pill, and one more week with anti-inflammatories. Knowing this, I was trying to front-load my pre-op, so I can spend as much time in bed with a heating pad as possible once the pills wear off. So, how am I doing with the pre-op checklist? ✅ Parking Placard procured. ✅ Surgical Optimization completed; walker, pre-op wipes, and glucose drinks procured. ✅ Stuff Procured
