Update: 2 December 2025
At the tender-ish age of 43, on January 5, 2026, I will be swapping out my original left hip joint for a titanium model that will be much more durable. I am fully ready to be asked "how??" and "why??" by just about everyone on my care team. I remember this from my four times on the spine surgery floor a couple of years ago, it's pretty funny.

Unfortunately, considering the 6mm difference in length in my legs, and the 8mm pelvic tilt, I'm really relying on my no-effort food go-tos for both physical and emotional comfort. And I'll be doing that likely through March or April of 2026, which means this blog is on hold until around then.

Instead, this has spawned the yr Auntie Universe, as I have started the Auntie's New Hip blog, as well as a vlog component on my YouTube Channel. I'll be talking about how I'm preparing for major surgery as someone who's done it before and now as someone with a lot of food allergies, from what I'm doing to prepare myself pre-op to how I handle being post-op. If you want to see me at my worst, go subscribe to my channel and follow along on my new blog!

Otherwise, The Menu has full spreads for Christmas, New Years, the Super Bowl & March Madness, and the start of cookout season, so you'll have plenty of safe and yummy recipes to choose from while I'm recuperating.

See you on the flip side! I'm sure I'll have plenty of time in the next few months to brainstorm all the delicious things I'm going to make myself to eat and then share how I made it with you once I can tolerate standing for 20 minutes again!
